what a sad excuse for a fest, arrest fest, went on vscstion went home on probation! We spent ALOT of time in our safe cabin!
Well if you weren't doing anything wrong you don't have anything to be afraid of. Be smart. A lot of that hype is not true. The arrests were 108 with 240 something charges. My roomate is head of Hospitality. The reason the cops came in full force is because someone stole 300 bracelets and they were called to find them being sold in the parking lot. They arrested one guy with a RIDICULOUS AMOUNT of narcotics, and the word got out fast. 30 undercovers bought tickets outside and went in. Security was beat up and tazed for not letting a police officer in the vip artist lounge. It was a nightmare. But 4900 other people seemed to have a good time so saying it was a sad excuse for a festival is just irresponsible honestly. Remember Jamcruise in Jacksonville? Remember Coparusa. Ever Been to Smilefest? Again, if you act like an adult at a place that is sketch. You should be fine. Hiding in your safe cabin was a waste IMO. One of the best festival experiences I've ever encountered on dry land. I am sorry you didn't have a good time, Hopefully next year will be somewhere where the private property truly means just that. And don't blame Gnarnia please, blame the kids out there doing stupid work, and lots of it. http://www.goblueridge.net/index.php?op ... st&catid=1
trying to keep this all in perspective....
i'm right there with you, lost sailor, about personal responsibility and the like. i didn't leave that place on probation or in jail, BUT.... it is pretty irrefutable to say those numbers of arrests/felonies are extremely high for such a low attended festival.
Here's some fun facts for you, pulled from Bonnaroo's statistics (I figured it'd be a good one since it's so damn big):
Number of arrests at Bonnaroo in 2002: 18
Number of arrests at Bonnaroo in 2003: 36
Number of arrests at Bonnaroo in 2004: 27
Number of arrests at Bonnaroo in 2005: 44
Number of arrests at Bonnaroo in 2006: 76
Number of arrests at Bonnaroo in 2007: 73
Number of arrests at Bonnaroo in 2008: 78
Number of arrests at Bonnaroo in 2009: 50
Number of arrests at Bonnaroo in 2010: 36
Number of arrests at Bonnaroo in 2011: 53
Number of arrests at Bonnaroo in 2012: 48
11 Bonnaroo festivals... average overall combined attendance = 880,000 (just going off bonnaroo's claim that only 80,000 people are there... if you've been... you know that number is much higher).
Total number of arrests after 11 Bonnaroo festivals: 539
The average number of arrets per Bonnaroo attendee = 539 arrests / 880,000 average overall attendance = .06% of all Bonnaroo attendees since its inception have been arrested.
Gnarnia had 4,500 attendees. the agency "ALE" arrested 108 people (source: Lee County Star Tribune). Local LEOs arrested an additional "estimated 160" arrests (source: Watauga Democrat). That is 268 total documented arrests.
The average number of arrests per Gnarnia attendee = 268 arrests / 4,500 approximate attendance = 5.95% of all Gnarnia attendees in one year of production were arrested.
It's really fucked up when you do the math on the actual numbers in comparison to a festival that is also in a small, southern town.
