My vote is for Alice Russell.
Get her with Quantic Soul Orchestra

This is a really great suggestion, along with J-Ha and Chainsaw (Wyllys and the Hustlers maybe?)

What about Susan Tedeschi? How come she and Derek Trucks are never on board?

If you want a list of female musicians to invite, I will gladly come up with a list :)

Derek was on a few years ago but got off the boat at one of the ports & I was disappointed to never really see Susan get up there... or Derek either, in the Jam Room. but that was before they were touring together as a band, so yeah - would be great to get them back on board!!

I acutally made that comment on the boat....I went to the autograph signing on the boat and only got 1 females autograph

Angela from Orgone

Eh, Angela who? You mean Niki?

I saw Deep Banana Blackout mentioned in another thread, made me think of Jen Durkin that used to front them.
Another hot all women's bluegrass band is Full Frontal Folk from Philly.
And I like Serk's suggestion of Nikki Glaspie. You don't see female drummers every day and she is a really great one!

So now we have two movements going. Get more women on stage and get August back on da boat!

Derek Trucks Band was on JC5 .. Susan definitely appeared in their pool deck set. I would love to have them back!
Deep Banana Blackout was also aboard..

JC6 had Sharon Jones and Grace Potter .......

It would be great to see some more female artists back on board !

Would love to see Tedeschi Trucks Band next year.
Grace Potter & the Nocturnals would be nice, but they've seem to have gone a more commercial route.
Sister Sparrow was a very nice surprise at the Gathering of the Vibes last year.

I miss Sharon Jones on the boat.

That lady knows how to get down!

Wow, so many incredible female artist options listed here, I love it!

love love LOVE those ladies, but I think they disbanded years ago? They haven't done a CD since like 2005 I think and they're all working in other bands. I think they reunited to do a few workshops (not sets) at Philly Folk Fest last year but other than that.... I haven't heard anything from them in many years. :(
