agreed. maybe Funky 2 Death at the Seamonster on Fri... Marmalade at White Rabbit on Thurs?

but the REAL heat is McTuff at the Seamonster on Tues 1/31... then Sat 2/4 is The Mother Hips & True Spokes (aka the band formerly known as Flowmotion) at the ShowBox

Thanks everyone!!

It's a business trip and we leave Sat to catch PGroove in Nashville on the way home (to Florida); so we are stuck with those dates.

Keep the ideas coming.

Check out any of the shows at The Royal Room on those three nights. They are free. You can't beat free. Either Mike and Karina on the 1st or the 930 PM Royal Jazz session on Wed. looks good or the Yada Yada Blues Band with Joe Doria on the Hammond B3!

http://theroyalroomseattle.com/calendar.php

The Royal Room is a new music club opened by Wayne Horvitz (of Zony Mash) in South Seattle on Rainier Ave. Give it a go there aint a whole lot else going on!

Maybe check out D'Vonne Lewis' (EPIC drummer formerly of McTuff) Facebook page and try to find out where he is playing on Wed or Thursday night he usually has some gigs going on you can go see for free.

http://www.facebook.com/people/DVonne-Lewis/756392973

My pick would be the Yada Yada Blues Band on Thursday night.

Looks like there are a couple of cool options for music tonight in Seattle: Rippin Chicken at Lucid (U-District), Eldridge Gravy & The Court Supreme at Nectar (Fremont) and Funky 2 Death at Seamonster (Wallingford).

Pretty sure I will be heading to Lucid for Rippin Chicken, I am a new, big fan of Ollie Klomp and stoked to check out this new collaboration. Never been to Lucid, it might be a little more “jazz-clubby” than I generally prefer but am willing to give it a try! And then maybe head over to the Seamonster for a little Funky @ Death, I mean it IS right down the street…

Eldridge Gravy & the Court Supreme at Nectar is also sure to be a fun time but I just saw them not long(ish) ago opening up for Karl D and so am much more interested in Rippin’ Chicken for tonight

LUCID JAZZ LOUNGE
Friday - 02/03/2012
Rippin Chickin
9:30pm – NO COVER

A new power house trio for 2012 made up of Delvon Lamaar on Keys and left hand Bass (Vaughn Kreestoe, Megatron) , Ben Bloom on Guitar (Polyrhythmics , Lucky Brown and Unsinkable Heavies) and Olli Klomp on Drums (Lucky Brown, Oval League, Rockin' Teenage Combo) This band seamlessly melts your grease with a chemistry and intensity that is unmatched by their contemporaries in the Seattle music scene. Rippin' Chicken's music is Funky. While chops abound, and jazz is intertwined in both the original compositions as well as the band's choice cover selections, this group pays homage to the "pocket" Influences include , Grant Green, Soulive, Soul Investigators, Melvin Sparks and Jimmy Smith
