Yes, the boat usually has a cover set (with an All star band of sorts - like the Sly Set), and then the super jam.

Both with Prince would be great, in some way or another.

 I guess I didn't read to closely, I personally was talking about having a Prince Tribute Set - artists covering his tunes, like this year's Sly set - not actually having him on board.

Those tribute/cover sets tend to be superjams IMO, in that they have a mix of amazing artists, not one 'band' playing the set. I think I would prefer to see a Prince Tribute Set on the ship than actually having Prince booked ($$$!).

But I wouldn't mind Prince being on board either, really ... 8)

He has a pretty decent band, too

But yeah, I could see a price tribute set. Maybe we could get Maceo back for it. When I saw Prince last year it was almost like the whole show was a tribute set to disco funk stuff. Wild Cherry, Funkadelic, etc.

Thread hijack in full effect :NINJA:

Yeah Prince and his band playing the pool deck would be all sorts of awesome, but I don't think having Prince on the boat would work very well logistically. Plus I'm not sure how much he would be into the mixing and mingling with passengers thing and sit-ins and impromptu jams and other "spirit of JamCruise" stuff. I saw him for the first time last March in Greensboro though and it was one helluva show!

So, since we are unlikely to be blessed with an actual Prince set, I would be more than happy with a Prince cover/tribute/superjam/whatever form it takes set. Who do you think should sing Darling Nikki?

Hrm, well, guess I better go get it off of Cruise Tunes with all this acclaim, I hit the wall a couple of hours before the set and was snoring away in the cabin :(

Nah, I'm pretty sure I had been moved from the pool deck to the cabin by then.

During the Tony Hall SuperJam when the music was playin and dem horns was blowin' the pooldeck into the stratosphere, at that point I was standing next to JustBob and could only say the word, "Wow!"... because that is exactly what it was! :D 8)
