so the thinking behind "1 color" really isn't to make costuming easy for us, you see most of us that are on this board, are pro's, most have a costume room or closet, we know how to costume and could handle just about any theme and do it great!
what about the 2,700 other cruisers? the one's that may only costume on Halloween? and then buy a pre-made costume,,this makes up most of the cruisers, we say this based on the amt of cruisers that costume on any given night, when we look around, we were always shocked that more cruisers weren't in the theme & that # was even less on non-theme nights
i know we have unofficial theme nights, which rock! but the most fun nights on the boat for the most part have been when it was an official theme night.
so how do we make it real easy for the masses to get on board w/ a theme?????? make the theme as easy as can be, atleast 1 of the nights
we love the idea of 3 official theme nights & 2 unofficial
so think long term, just based on this "poll" we would have 6yrs of a theme,w/ each yr there being a different color to do up{heck we are doing a zebra for the 4th time in a row}
by doing "all colors" it would take away an easy theme for years
yes theme's should be repeated after some time has passed,,ie Pj night & pirate night do to new cruisers & time & funness
but when we think back the 9yrs we have been cruising, we have felt that not all the official themes were good ones, so since there has been some issues coming up w/ 2 great theme's each year, now add a 3rd night odds are there might be some not so hot ones,,,,this is where a "1 color theme" comes in,, it's a no-brainer & would be different each year
also there is something to be said for unity, there was a point last year when we were standing on the pool deck & it felt like EVERYONE was in green, there was soooo much green that the costumes melted into 1 giant green mass,,by far the best costuming moment for us!
we costume every week here in NOLA, and we've found the easier the theme the more people that joined in.
again think about the cruisers that aren't fanatic like us, lets get them involed & last year for the 1st ever we seen alot of our "jamily" that have NEVER costumed b4 in green, even if it was green shorts & tee, this is why "1color " is so great & has the potential to turn into the best theme night each year

I just remember long ago before JC seeing Claypool's Frog Brigade and Leslie Edward went off on a tangent about how orange "is a happy color." I wish I still had my orange JC hat that never made it off of JC9.
