I just got the following message from Shawn Williams brother Dave. Shawn was a shining light despite all of the medical crap he had to endure. He will be missed. Feel free to share with the community.

Message from Shawn's brother Dave:
You don't know me but you were acquainted with my brother Shawn Williams. I'm sending this message to as many of the people that knew him as I can reach in the hopes of getting the word out to everyone who knew Shawn and grew to know him as a friend. Shawn passed away last night after his 9 year battle with relapsing polychondritis at around 8pm. No arrangements have been made yet but once they are I will share them with anyone that is interested. Email me at williams.dave@hotmail.com if you would like information on the viewing, funeral service, etc, when those things are decided.

Shawn was such an amazingly strong, thoughtful, and upbeat individual in spite of the cards he was dealt by life. I know the people he touched in life would want to know of his passing, that's why I'm reaching out... But I don't know everyone. If you know anyone that would want to know but I can't reach on Facebook, please let them know.

I just read that message and came here immediately.

Fare you well my honey
Fare you well my only true one
All the birds that were singing
Have flown except you alone
Goin to leave this Broke-down Palace
On my hands and my knees I will roll roll roll
Make myself a bed by the waterside
In my time - in my time - I will roll roll roll
In a bed, in a bed
by the waterside I will lay my head
Listen to the river sing sweet songs
to rock my soul
River gonna take me
Sing me sweet and sleepy
Sing me sweet and sleepy
all the way back back home
It's a far gone lullaby
sung many years ago
Mama, Mama, many worlds I've come
since I first left home
Goin home, goin home
by the waterside I will rest my bones
Listen to the river sing sweet songs
to rock my soul
Goin to plant a weeping willow
On the banks green edge it will grow grow grow
Sing a lullaby beside the water
Lovers come and go - the river roll roll roll
Fare you well, fare you well
I love you more than words can tell
Listen to the river sing sweet songs
to rock my soul

Shawn's handle on here was whyweigh. He was one of the most active forum posters and he helped kindle the Jam Cruise spirit all year long in the days before Facebook was ever dreamed up.

Shawn was one of 3 or 4 Jam Cruisers I knew before coming on board my first cruise 7 years ago, and he was the first cruiser to welcome me aboard with a hug that year. Just a few months ago things were looking up and he was planning on being back on board this year. I will be raising a glass to him tonight, as well as a month from now at my first Phish show of the year, and again on Jam Cruise.

7 years on this forum and part of this shared journey and like you Vince, I knew him from phishposters before that... that translates into a very long time that I have known Shawn.
I think Matt and I are going to need to put on some phish tonight and rage in his honor. :)

Shawn also went by liquidgoggles on the High Sierra forum and I have passed on the sad news to those that frequent over there.

I am DEVASTATED over this news. I got the email from his brother too. Shawn was SUCH a strong man, when he wasn't on Jam Cruise, I would see him at Phish everywhere and hug and kiss him constantly just letting him know how much he was loved by me and all of you and so many others.

He was such a fighter and was just so sick all the time :(

Such a loss for our community.

RIP dear brother....

Sad news. Shawn had a kind spirit!
Rest well in the symphony of the souls, sweet friend!

I wasn't fortunate to see him that often but when I did it was always a great encounter at great places. He will be missed and I am grateful to have known him. RIP Shawn! May the music be with you always.
