Not sure how I feel about the move to a much larger ship. One of the things I love about JC is the feeling that it's never crowded, and you can always get a great spot to see a show. With nearly twice as much passenger capacity, I'm concerned that the intimacy will be lost.

mrm, it looks like only about 300 more passengers? I guess it depends on whether you count max vs just using the lower bunks, but yeah, every few years they move to a bigger ship. Maybe they'll run a fourth stage. =)

ya I said that when we went from a ~2k passenger ship to our current ~3k passenger ship. but really, it's still very intimate :) 3k people at a festival is tiny, relatively speaking. my fears turned out to be unfounded, and I'm hoping they will be again if we do go bigger.

If you really want to play tourist in Ft. Lauderdale:
http://travel.usnews.com/Fort_Lauderdale_FL/Things_To_Do/Tips/

I redeye from CA to FL the day before the cruise every year. Landing early in the morning.
Rent a car at the airport.
Drive to Bahia Cabana.
Breakfast, Bloody Mary and Coffee.
Short rest.
Pick up last minute stuff that is too cumbersome to drag on the plane.
Return the car in the afternoon.
Cab to Bahia Cabana.
Hang on the beach or directly back to Cabana.
Park myself at the bar.
Look at all the beautiful cruisers dropping in one by one through the bottom of my glass.
Crawl back to my room.
Final packing.
Set everything that makes noise early in the morning.
Meet cruisers for breakfast at the Cabana.
Split a cab.
Ride to the port.
Big ship visible over terminal buildings
MSC logo
Long lines
Sea air
Excitement builds up
Almost through the door
A glass of free lemonade
show passport
get ship card
fill in forms
answer questions while thinking of something else
ahh, you mean those tickets...
Flirt with the lady behind the counter (yes she could be my granny, but I'm ecstatic, dammit)
Through customs.
Serious looks
Don't giggle
No jokes.
Don't pet the puppy.
Ok, you're through
Take picture
Through the maze
Escalator up to boarding level
Glassed in walking bridge
Almost there
I can feel it
I can touch it
White steel
One foot on board
Through metal detector
Woooooooooooooooooooohooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

^^^brings back memories of after JC 4,5 &6 , we moved to a bigger boat on 7,,,,there was alot of posts here asking that we pay more $$ and stay on a smaller boat,,,,,,,i've always felt the more the merrier! someday it would be cool to this cruiser if JC was on the biggest boat in da world!
