Sometimes you just need to take a break, you enter an area where there is no music scheduled
and bam, there is the most amazing jam (practice hapnin).

What is the most amazing jams you have seen?

- for me its always Robert Walter and Stanton Moore jamming with everyone
- the Maceo Superjam practice

I once found Skerik playing the piano in the atrium. There were only 3 other people there and it was awesome.

Our first year on Jam Cruise, Andy and I happened to stumble into the theatre one afternoon, just curious what was going on. Galactic was doing their sound check, we found seats in the back and settled in for a "private show". It was a blast to see and hear!

For me it was JC6. The key was the open deck in the aft. It was non stop pro, passenger and mixed jams around the clock. Everybody was jamming their (br)asses off!

...in the elevator on the last night of last year (JC10), Simon and Pete from the New Mastersounds gave me a spontaneous acapella performance of the theme from the banana splits. while holding bananas :D

...Robert Walter's amazing solo piano set in the atrium on JC7. Before piano in the atrium sets were scheduled/announced.

...stumbling onto a New Monsoon with Warren Haynes jam on JC6, with maybe 12 people in the audience.

Brock Butler is the King of JC for this. Team Good Times' private showings are legendary!

Last year at around 5:30am on the 3rd night? Maybe?? Anyway...

My friends and I were raging up near the front of the boat, getting all stoked for the impending sunrise. I had to go to the bathroom, which I did, but then sort of wandered a bit. I noticed a doorway that had some stuff hanging over it to block it, but nothing permanent, and heard some faint piano sounds coming from it. I moved the stuff aside and zombie-walked towards the piano-tinklin'.

I found the source which was a grand piano (or maybe just a piano piano) with a gentleman sitting at it stroking away. There was one other person (freak) in the room sitting and listening to the dude. So I sat, too. We both listened and swayed, tapped our tables for some percussion accompaniment, and thoroughly enjoyed while the guy jammed a few instrumentals for us.

Then he said he was tired. We both were like, "One more?" And he happily complied...don't know who the dude was, but obviously with one of the bands or crew and I must have stumbled into a 'private area'? Tis a bit foggy....

After that, stumbled out of there and zombie-walked back to the front of the boat to my holmies. I kept the experience to myself and didn't share it with anyone, it just felt special.

Then we witnessed one heck of a glorious and beautiful sunrise. Pretty damn classic...

Same thing only on time it was Robert Walter, then Grace Potter, then Nigel Hall. The piano in the atrium is one of my favorite spots as so many musicians simply can't resist the temptation of playing a clear acrylic grand piano. You never know who you might see there!

The scheduled piano sets are among my favorites every year.
