i agree with all of that. they are awesome and fit in perfectly.

that said, i'm not a funk-first cruiser by any means. i'm really not terribly surprised to hear this coming from you guys tho, knowing your tastes. i like more space, groove and dirt in my jams.

plus my eyes are closed a lot of the time at shows so theatrics are kind of wasted on me.

Saw them again last night. Eight sets in less than a year and I still danced my ass off. :P I wouldn't mind if they were back this year.

Saw them the other night in Baltimore and they confirmed to me that they will be on the boat again next cruise as well as maritime magic in baltimore this summer again. That will make lets see, twice at Floydd Fest, twice on boat, and 3 times other places, well almost 8!

Who else was surprised that M4 got booked again? I figured that it would be just too many darn people. I guess with the bigger boat and C9 not fillling it all the way up, band size will have less impact on who can get booked.

Anyway, i was really happy about it

I wasn't all that surprised. We saw them in Bmore recently and one of them had confirmed that they'd be on again. And they are VERY happy about it. :)

REAL glad to see them getting so much love & agree that they're the epitome of a JC band!!!! Most fun band all-around that I've seen & that's saying a helluva lot! They'll be at the Squaw Valley Funk & Brew Fest on August 11 w/ Zig Modeliste, Jellybread (fabulous Reno funk band) & Terraplane (Tahoe rock). Can't wait!!!!

So i'm all for M4 being on JC three times in a row. Not only are their performances great, but the group as a whole brings a ton of awesomness to the boat when they are not playing. Its really starting to feel like they are a part of JC to me.
Even if they only had one set I would think that C9 could find enough exrta stuff for the members to do around the boat(workshops, positive legacy, etc) to make it worth it to stuff them in all that extra space that we now have on the new ship.

Works for me, I tried to set up a rap session between Katie (M4 trumpet player) and Nikki, but couldn't quite make it work on that last night (jam room shut down too early!!!). Next year I'm hoping for a 3 way with Katie, Nikki, and Carley. Hrm, they all rhyme.

Agreed, they are just really cool people and I love hanging out with them. They bring a burning man type experience to our party that's refreshing and they love to make people dance. We had many large bands this year and it really paid off. Bootsy brought a shittton of help and i'm still not sure how many people are in Theivery Corporation, i'll put the over-under at 18.

I know moving to a bigger boat had everyone a little freaked but it allowed them to book bigger artists.
