I was on the fence but just booked my travel/hotel yesterday. I haven't even looked at late-night shows yet. This will be my first trip to NOLA!!

I guess I'll have to start begging and pestering until I find an extra for the meter men

Are you only going second weekend? Because they did add a second show on Saturday 4/27.

just a tip,,,,,not to many shows sellout,,due to there being so many shows,,,the few big shows that due sellout,,tend to have people selling tix's as alot of 1st timers go to the fest and can't make it to the late night shows,,,,the venues also tend to sell more tixs if the place doesn't fill up,,,,we don't get to many tix's ahead of time,,,,last minute additions to shows happen a lot & it's nice not to have the "wrong tix" in hand .......

good advice!

JF is tough for me in that way, I generally like to have tix in hand before a show but certainly don't want to waste any money/tix. but I also know what I love & if most of my favorite musicians are playing a show together? ain't nuthin' gonna get me to go somewhere else so I might as well buy a ticket and plan to go. plus for some bands/musicians I know it is a bigger/better thang to sell some advance tix than others. based on what I'm seeing so far, I expect to be pre-ticketed for 4 or 5 nights & leave the rest open.

can't wait to see and RAGE w/y'all, there were soooo many folks I missed not being on the boat this year...!!

Shows that threaten to sell out are usually not the place you want to be anyway, unless it is a seated venue like the Mahalia Jackson Theater. A lot of the venues like the Howlin Wolf and the Republic are notirous for overselling their rooms, and why spend a night like a sardine in a can if there is at least a half dozen other great shows you could check out? Sure, I made exceptions to that rule as well (for example the MJ set by the Greyboys at Tips), but since my first year when I had tickets in hand for more than half of the shows I went to see it's rarely been more than one show that I pre-purchased.

It also makes it easier that many of my must see shows are on the days between, and they usually don't even really get crowded, let alsone come close to selling out.

At least that first-timer incident occurred well in to late night, I don't think music was missed. But yeah.

Speaking of favorite musicians playing together...I am super stoked about the Omaha Diner show as well! I think it's been at least 5 yrs since Bobby Previte has been in town for JF. Maybe he'll also do a straight up Coalition show at some point too. Haven't seen that in a while and would love to!
