Beau Eichling brought joy to everyone who knew him. He was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer about 6 months ago. He underwent treatment. 5 months ago he was told that the cancer was out of his lung but that mets had formed on his liver. At that time he was given 8 months. He met this news with grace, wisdom, and humor. That's how he faced everything in his life. He said he felt lucky that he was given an opportunity to make sure that everyone he cared about knew how he felt about them before he was gone. He also said that he felt lucky because they told him that this form of cancer takes you quickly and is not terribly painful. He died at home yesterday. His family was with him.
Beau was all about bringing happiness to others. He owned a comic book shop in Charlottesville, VA. I spent many a happy festival with him. He loved music. He loved people. He loved Jam Cruise. Being well enough to come on Jam Cruise this year gave him great happiness. He will be thought of often, remembered with love, and missed always.

You know Hillary, the very first time we hung out off the boat, you and AB introduced me to Beau. Lotus show in B'burg. He was one of the most positive and loving people I've ever met. We're all gonna have to put out a lot more love and positivity to fill the big void he's left in the world. Keep the balance.

:D That was a really great weekend.

Crazy Redbeard wants to start a nonprofit in Beaus name to help provide access to music and the arts to underprivileged kids. I think it's something that Beau would really get on board with. I will let you know how it progresses.

Be sure to let all of us know about it and how we might help out.

:( He will be sorely missed!! Being a Charlottesville native I frequented his comic shop many times, and he actually helped get my little brother into the good old fasioned hobby of comic book collecting. I'd also always run into him at the random festival as well and we'd always exchange a few laughs before walking away yelling "C'VILLE". Good people like him are hard to come by these days. RIP my friend.

Hillary,
Let me know how I can help out the nonprofit. That's a great idea & I'm sure Beau would approve;)
