Who else is thinking about staying in Ft Lauderdale for old times sake?
Taper Joe is looking at charter buses from Lauderdale to Port of Miami ... we could do this for between $8 - $15 per person.

PM me if there's any interest - we'll get this started.

I will miss the night before at that bar, but we only need to find a new place to hang out. The people make the magic. The bar just serves the drinks.

Good luck trying to get a bunch of these people organized enough to catch that bus. How would you do the bus coming back? Everyone gets off the boat at different times.

So, any Miami locals know where we can all hang the night before?

there is a bar in Miami beach called Jazid that is a part time jam band bar. As far as I know the closest to a Jam band scene you will find in Miami. Just a suggestion

Trying to think about Jam Cruise without the Bahia Cabana gives me a headache.

Sure gonna miss Jake & Elwood. Maybe they'll bust out and come to Miami.

Although since we're sailing on Saturday, I'm not sure if I'll be able to enjoy the traditional cruise eve festivities... :WALL:

That's what I did for NYE 09 & JC 8. Four nights with Phish, 2 days off, and then on the boat. That was a good run indeed.

Still not sure how I'm going to manage this Saturday embarkation, guess its the price we pay for sailing before Holy Ship. Maybe the stars will align and my work will decide to be closed on 1/2 & 3.

Pretty sure Phish has one more year on the MSG NYE contract.... but I'd happily be wrong on that one! The Miami lot scene is the most disgusting thing I've ever seen, but otherwise it's a nice change of pace. '03 and '09 were both great runs IMO (I missed 12/28/09)

If by 'disgusting' you mean completely awesome, raging out of control party, and perhaps one of the best lot scenes in recorded history, then I agree completely!
They dont call it the rage cage for nothing!

Jazid is tiny. Tobacco Road would be the place I reccomend. If its lame Transit Lounge is just around the corner. Also, the preshows should be raging midtown I guess and that is nothing but bars and clubs.

The thing that made the Bahia Cabana great, was that it was nothing.... it just was what it was.

Gonna be hard to recreate that one.

Funny I was just searching for good dives in Miami and found two potentials:
http://www.tobacco-road.com 626 S Miami Ave, Miami, FL
http://www.barracudabargrill.com 3035 Fuller St, Miami, FL 33133
I don't know Miami, so locals please chime in. Looks like Tobacco Road has one thumb's up so far.
