Will we get to know any specifics about venues before it's time to pick cabins? I understand if the answer is no, but it would be helpful.

i would like some confirmation on that. also it seems like a lot of the other venues are smaller than we are used to... or at least laid out differently. will there be more stages?

somes specifics for discussion: a comparison between the Divina and Poesia

Venue = Capacity

Poesia:
Theatre = 1240
Zebra = 439
Pigalle = 330 (jamroom)
S32 Disco = 172

Total = 2181
source

Divina:
Theatre = 1603
Black & White = 295
Top Sail = 141 (yacht club?)
Galaxy Disco = 126
La Luna = 108
Golden Jazz Bar = 106
La Cantina Di Bacco = 105
Silver Lounge = 98

Total = 2579
source

thoughts: with more passengers and more, smaller venues, i think the schedule will probably have a lot more conflicts. hopefully, they stagger the shows and make them long enough so that it's easy to bounce around. i can also foresee capacity issues at a lot of these rooms for some of the more popular bands. it makes sense that the lineup has so many choices because it will help spread out the crowds, but without a big pool deck stage i think this could be a problematic situation.

i just noticed that capacity on both lists refers to seats so maybe the standing/dancing numbers are higher.

Wow those secondary venues are quite a bit smalelr, aren't they? We'll have to knock out some walls.

yeah... i'm really curious how its going to work out. especially the pool deck. thats a huge question for me. always been my favorite place to see music on the boat.

i'm probably just going to book as i would normally, but hopefully we arent waiting until november (schedule announcement time) to get some answers on this.

I've been looking at pictures of the pool deck and the usual "drop a truck and make a stage" method seems dicey. The aqua park area has short stairs, decorative walls and hot tubs all over the place. If the stage goes in the usual spot it will be on a raised area between 2 hot tubs. I have full confidence that there will be an excellent pool deck venue, but it may be a bit more custom.

I hope the theater (as nice as it looks) does not become the new "pool deck", ie main stage. Those numbers for the venues are a bit worrisome. I would guess that the floor space to number of seats ratio would be similar for the lounge type areas between the two ships. And from the 3d walk throughs the areas do seems smaller on the new boat. Im sure it will all work out fine but it might be a lot different set-ups than we are use to.

two Jam rooms??

What if they put a stage in the indoor pool area and that's the 3rd stage. Maybe getting rid of the small second stage on the pool deck.

The theater is decks 5, 6, & 7!!! :shock:

The Golden Jazz Barr:
Small but my guess for the former Zebra Bar. Located near the Theater for the back and forth/show to show access we've grown accustomed to.

The Black & White Lounge:
Decent sized venue and hopefully where the Jam Room will be.

The pool deck has me baffled... :THINK: Under the sliding roof on 15 could be cool but doesn't have much crowd space. The only thing I can see on deck 14 is revisiting JC1&2 and have the stage port or starboard side.

Disco???

We've definitely left the musical themed cruise liners; Lirica, Opera, Lirica, Orchestra, Poesia (x4.) The Divina is a beauty, but alas I think luxury is her game.

After finally looking over the deck plans, here's how I think I'd do it:

pool deck stage = covered (retractable) pool area
solar/wind stage = somewhere in the aqua park area
instead of zebra bar = la luna piano bar AND the golden jazz bar
jam room = black & white
theatre = theatre, disco = disco, atrium piano = atrium piano :D

Yeah, I think they will/should add another stage :shock: and overlap to reduce #s in the audience per stage (in theory). See the way I add it up, they have announced 57 sets of music so far. Last year's schedule shows 59 slots (not including jam room, disco, or solo piano sets). The year before had 60. I see no reason to suspect this is not an 'initial' lineup announcement, ergo there will be additions, ergo they need more time slots! So they need to add a venue, or make the sets shorter (NO!). I don't see any other way to do it.

My ponderings of the afternoon. :)

oh and I would also do sets in the black and white during the day, not just a dedicated jam room

Looks like the Galaxy disco is on deck 16, in the middle-ish. round area with what looks to be very tiny dance floor, the arcade, a mini movie theater, and a small restaurant?
