Howdy! Getting ready to cruise? So here's the thing about glow sticks. First please note that I have no official status to tell anybody what to do, so this is just my own observations and opinions.
You know how we have this greening thing and carbon offset and stuff? C9 is trying their best to make this an environment friendly experience (although I'm sure the smoke stack on that huge ship will get a few polar bears swimming around searching for a new ice sheet). Anyhow, glow sticks contain plastic and some chemicals that are not a part of the regular diet of the average bottlenose dolphin. So glow sticks are little bit frowned upon and discouraged on the cruise.
Then what to do if you want to glow? EL-wire is a fun thing to work with. LEDs as well. (Don't throw the used batteries overboard when you're done with them. The Yellowtail Damselfish can choke on them!
). Another thing I warmly recommend is glow stick apps for Android and iPhone. You have no reception on board anyway so your phone will be nothing than an expensive coaster on your nightstand. Put it to use! (And don't throw your cellphone overboard when the battery is out. It can hit a manatee in the head!
