Hey, 2nd time cruiser here. Didn't purchase insurance the 1st time. Giving it more thought this time. Just wondering how many of you have purchased in the past, or have/are planning to purchase it this time and why or why not? Also I didn't see any info on a last date to purchase it. Thanks! :EH:

Heya, we've been getting it the last few years. What with air travel during snow season, or you get very sick, it is plausible that you miss the boat despite everything, and luggage can go missing and so on. So yeah, get it. :)

Check the terms of your credit card you are using to pay for the cruise; it may cover you. For example, I have a Chase Sapphire Preferred. It states:

Trip Cancellation/Trip Interruption Insurance
If your trip is canceled or cut short by sickness, severe weather and other covered situations, you can be reimbursed up to $10,000 per trip for your pre-paid, non-refundable travel expenses, including passenger fares, tours, and hotels.

This is good advice, but it's also a good idea to check out what your credit card - and current health insurance - will cover if something happens to you while traveling, and compare it to the coverages offered by the JC insurance provider. Illness and injury aren't usually covered by credit cards, just actual $ you have already spent on your trip AND paid for using that card. The travel insurance offered by Jam Cruise is much more comprehensive. You need to determine what comfort level is right for you.

I always buy the insurance. I'm glad I've never had to use it. :)
