Post subject: What about soft drinks?

I received my package, and it states that no food or bottled water is allowed on the boat. May we bring soft drinks (2 liters, cans etc..)?

And totally unrelated-- I hear we can purchase alcohol cheaply at port. Can we buy extra and check-it in to bring home with us?

1) No, you cannot bring soda on the boat, sorry. So your idea of stashing bottles and using the soda for mixers ain't gonna work ;)

2) You can buy alcohol and check it in with us and we'll give it back to you when you get home and yes, it's cheaper.

Well, it didn't take a rocket scientist to understand why I wanted to bring in the soda. So.........how about letting us know how much drinks are on the boat so we can plan ahead how much to bring down.
I assuming that if an ATM service charge is $8, it might be safe to assume that a 12 pack is around $325 bucks~~~

$4-5 a drink

ATM charge has nothing to do with the price of the drinks

And remember, there is no cash on the boat for drinks, you are given a boarding card with your credit card on it, so that is used.

Will the credit card be the credit card use to purchase the tickets? I ask because our "head person" used his card, and we'd like to be able to use our own, not his, when we'd like cocktails...

How much will bottled water be?

EACH passenger has to have a credit card

EACH passenger gets a boarding card WITH their credit card info on there

What tickets are you talking about?

I was talking about the credit card that was used to purchase the Jam Cruise tickets (maybe tickets is the wrong word... cabins I guess would be the right one). Our "head"person used his card to purchase all 3 of our tickets.

Same answer then, when you get on board, each person will need to present a credit card

Post subject: soft drinks and water and credit card system
PostPosted: Thu Dec 18, 2003 9:24 am
On every cruise I have been on soft drinks, juices, teas, coffee have all been part of the free food package. Why are they charging for these on our cruise. And if they are, how much will they be.Not everyone has a credit card, so how can you purchase these without one, also by using the card system you can never know what you are spending and if the servers are being honest with how may drinks you purchased. On a cruise people tend to by drinks and rounds for friends and I have been on criuses where people feel they have been robbed by servers looking to run up gratuities that they slap on your bill for every drink purchased on have put on way to many drinks on peoiples bill. With this crowd i would think this could be a potential problem that may occure.

I don't think we had free sodas on the last cruise I went on(Carnival) but I am sure there are some hat do, but to my understanding this policy is not unusual. Also, I understand what you are saying about them having the possibility to "scam" our drunkasses, but I am sure you will get receipts for every purchase. Just save them and if you have problems go talk to the purser. There's no WAY I will be able to keep up with my reciepts, so I am just going with faith and hopefully that will be enough.
