Ok here we go! Please everyone I need your help keeping these JC#1 shows seeded as I have very little bandwidth and need to get 8-9 shows out.

If you've used BitTorrent before go to:

HELP!!

I've read through the etree shorten file instructions and cannot get an ything to work. Can someone post some crashcourse instuctions on how to do this so I can relive some of this music?

If it's too complilcated, can someone turn them into wav files or mp3's and tell us where to download them. I checked Kazaa and haven't found anything searching under 'jamcruise'.

HELP! Must......have......boat.....music...

Ok first I assume you're using M$ Windoze.

For 95/98/NT download and run these in order:

1) http://www.etree.org/software/mkw-mfc42.exe
2) http://www.etree.org/cgi-bin/counter.cg ... t097b1.exe

For XP just download and run:

http://www.etree.org/cgi-bin/counter.cg ... t097b1.exe

Once you've done this there'll be an option in your programs menu:

Start -> Programs -> mkw Audio Compression Toolkit -> mkw Audio Compression Tool

Open it. Select all the SHN's you want to convert and drag them into the mkw window.

viola they'll be uncompressed to wav.

If this doesn't work and you get errors then you may not have completed the download.

PM me with questions/problems.

One more thing. If you have NERO you don't even need to uncompress these.

Download the SHN plugin from:

http://neroplugins.cd-rw.org/

Extract the .dll file in there and place it in:

C:\Program Files\ahead\Shared\AudioPlugins

That's it now you can just select the .shn files and burn them :D

If you want to listen to SHN files on your computer without uncompressing them download winamp:

Hey all,

If anybody is 'Bittorrent' clueless or 'high-speed' impaired, just lemme know and I'll be happy to do BnP's (send copies, in short) or setup vines of all the FANTASTIC music Ethan is sharing with us - you da man, e.

Here's what a BnP (Blanks and Postage) is . . .
http://www.etree.org/bnp/index.html

I have everything ethan has put up, plus the Les shows from JC2.

rock steady,

-tscales (tscales14@hotmail.com - be patient, my isp is down)

I dont understand how you drag the files in (copy and paste?) when there is nothing to drag. I downloaded and ran both set-ups and now I'm not sure what to do....

Presumably you've downloaded the .SHN files with BitTorrent already. If you haven't done this then we have to back up.

If you have the .SHN files the you select them.

In Windozes this is done by left-clicking on one file then pressing shift and holding it. Then left-click on the last file in the directory and keep holding it. Now all the files will be selected (become shaded). While holding the shift and the left button still you move the mouse over the mkwACT widow and let go of the left mouse button.

This is how you "drag-and-drop".

This is my 1st time using BitTorrent..

What is considered a good download rate? Right now it is at 109... That is steller for what I am used to on FutherNet.

yeah that's pretty good.

It's all relative to what the maximum capability of your cable or DSL is.

Also to get even better speeds you must open your BitTorrent ports. If you haven't done this you might even get better speeds.

I'm too tired to explain now.

Reading: http://knowbuddy.dyndns.org:81/torrent/ ... onfig.html

Also remember the BitTorrent isn't magic...you should stay connected after you're download has completed and help serve the show. There is a little display that lists your "share ratio" quiting before your share ratio gets to 1.0 is considered impolite.

When your share gets to 1.0 it means you've uploaded as much as you've downloaded. If you quit before that then someone else is going to have to pick up the slack....comprende?

Thanks! Just finished. I will leave it open all night. It's not like I need my bandwidth for anything else. The little frown kind of let me know that I should leave it open until I share more.

It is thanks to guys like you that the music gets all over the place! I used to be a taper and with the advent of lossless file shareing on the net I no longer do it. I will leave it to the experts and not bother you guys anymore with my MD patch requests. :)

Thanks again!

Gavin

I was only gettin download speeds of like 30. The upload is only around 7. I have road runner cable, but am on my laptop with a wireless card.

Is this normal? It took like 3 hours to download Galactic, Kdtu, & the Moorestars.

Any suggestions to speed it up?

Did you configure your wireless router to forward the BitTorrent ports?

http://knowbuddy.dyndns.org:81/torrent/ ... onfig.html

BitTorrent is very dynamic. Sometimes you get lights out speed and sometimes it's a dawg. If you open the ports then you at least know you've done everything possible.

One thing that is for sure. If you get on a torrent that is just starting you can't download faster than the initial seed is able to serve it no matter what. So in my case I can only serve it at 27 KB/s so anyone who joins my torrents from the beggin will get this. Once there are seeds then anythings possible, but if you're going to wait till there are seeds you've still had to wait. so what's the point.
