I have lived here all my life. I have been seriously researching this and have even gotten lawyer friends involved. I've contacted the governer, the senator, the U.S. Dept. Of State. the local news channel...everyone. No help. Nowhere. No how. Very frustrating. Not only do I not want to miss Jam Cruise but more importantly. I want to be able to visit Vietnam, Greece, Italy, Thailand and so many other places. Sorry to hijack this thread. Will send you an email now. Thanks.

Please let's use emails...this will get complicated and is off-topic. "Here" I am guessing is Florida. We have to get specific, and not in a public forum.

It still can take years...please have patience. I have many co-workers who have been through years of fighting to get US Citizenship, so we can learn from their efforts. Citizenship is much harder now (especially after 9/11).

I am sorry you are frustrated, but you must focus your energy on your goals. JamCruise should not be your primary goal. It would be very nice, but in 3 months it is unlikely you will be able to get through all the red tape (unless you got a job working for MSC and got assigned to the ship...which is another "back door approach"). Other ways you can greatly improve your chances are to get an advanced degree, as well as get a job in the government (even for a contractor). IE, you could get a job at the State Dept. as a translator, in your country of origin (just a suggestion which others have used).

Remember, even John McCain wasn't born in the US (and he's running for President, though born in Panama). It may take you years to build those kinds of connections, but they are well worth the effort (and frustration).

Luckily, a passport is (once again) not required to cruise. My main goal in getting a passport is because my parents are retiring in Vietnam. They have land over there and visit there several times a year. I want to be able to go see them when they move. Plain and simple. I promise that from this point on, it will be strictly emails. 3) i am probably lucky that from my past shenanigans i am not either dead or in jail

4) i danced my sweet tushy off at 72 phish shows

5) i am a perpetually recovering ex catholic school girl who still to this day struggles with "oh no it must have been something i did" guilt crap.

6) i do not ever ever eat fish, having suffered through my childhood being violated by fish every friday...usually lake erie perch...full of bones...which made me gag with each bite. the horror the horror.
