And I'll get started with my ONE nomination for VTTB:

The Mantras
*click to link to their page on Archive.org

These guys are great - one of the most fun bands I see on a regular basis. Also - have a great and very loyal regional following, and I know MANY people that would otherwise never be able to go ($$ reasons, whatever) that would make Jam Cruise happen if these guys were on board.

this

Mantras/PGroove in Roanoke last night was a rager! Amazing how much wearing a Jam Cruise shirt becomes a conversation piece with all the buzz around the announcement. I think I sold at least 4 virgins on making their first cruise! Big Gigantic/PG in Richmond tonight!

Any Jam Cruiser Perps that going to Amberland, be sure to get there in time to check out the Mantras!

The Mantras would be such a great addition to the boat... Plus, a half dozen people already committed to selling a kidney to get on board should they be lucky enough to be nominated and win VTTB.

Suenalo from Miami has been in top form the last year or so since they added a female vocalist to the mix. They self-describe themselves as: afro-latin baby makin' descarga funk. Very groovy.. .I think they are on the archive. They should come relatively cheap too...

From further away, the Netherlands, how bouts Lefties Soul Connection. If you like funk/soul (a la New Mastersounds) and haven't checked out Skimming the Skum go do it now.

Beats Antique, I would like them voted onto the boat. There has already been a thread on these guys, I like them. And they don't seem like a vttb type of band, but the Emmit Nershi band seems like a good fit on the boat this year, I really like those guys.

Any of the constellations from the HBO show Tremé! Can't wait to get my hands (and ears) on that soundtrack!
Just lose the two annoying guys.

I'd nominate Poor Man's Whiskey. Eli Jebidiah can shred.

You want strings...check out "Time" from Dark Side of the Moonshine.

just got back from the CD release party - they are blowing up!

and since Melvin never made it on the boat :(

http://www.sparkplugband.com/

Beau Sasser - Hammond Organ
Bill Carbone - Drums
David Davis - Sax, EWI, Vocoder
Jamemurrell Stanley - Percussion

because Melvin Sparks is irreplaceable, Sparkplug features different guest guitarists each gig

Mr Denson will approve 8)
