I just learned Doc has passed on. I was very fortunate to see him with Merle a few times before Merle passed and after. A great man and musician he will be missed by fans everywhere.

Oh no. And Earl Scruggs left us just a month ago. This must be the worst year ever for musicians. The grammys will have to run an extra hour just to fit all the In Memoriams.

I too was saddened to hear of Doc's passing. We had a bluegrass band at our wedding and one of his songs was our wedding song.

But can you just IMAGINE the pickin' party going on up there...Doc, Merle, Earle, Jerry, Levon...woooooo weeee that's gotta be something crazy special!!

Yes! Tribute Sets to them all! I have heard tributes to Levon Helm by just about everyone from Bela Fleck & the Flecktones, Steve Kimock and Bonnie Raitt.

Bela's tribute to Earl Scruggs was the absolute best, I must say.
