Quincy, CA’s High Sierra Music Festival has confirmed its initial Playshop series. These intimate, often interactive performances will feature a number of unique sessions. One particularly interesting Playshop is billed as The Ramble Gramble: A Tribute to Levon Helm. Organized by ALO bassist Steve Adams, the event will find members of ALO, The Mother Hips, The Slip, Nicki Bluhm and others paying tribute to the late Band drummer. The musicians have performed a number of so-called Gramble jam sessions in different configurations since 2008.

Other highlights include: Sean Leahy’s Songs of The Grateful Dead, New Orleans Piano (featuring Marco Benevento, New Orleans Suspects’ CR Gruver, Johnny Vidacovich and Reggie Scanlan), Nathan Moore’s Hippy Fiasco Rides Again!, High Sierra Pick Extravaganza with Greensky Bluegrass, Songs of The Beatles, Skerik’s Horn-A-Copia, Guitarmageddon: Celebrating The Talking Heads (fetauring Leahy, Tea Leaf Green’s Josh Clark and ALO’s Lebo), Bloody Mary Ball with The Nibblers, Brownout with Grupo Fantasma and The World According to Steve Poltz.
High Sierra will take place from July 5-8.

How about a Ramble Gramble or Guitarmageddon on the boat?

Or, add Sean Leahy - all his SF friends will be there.

Bump.

Can't you all imagine a Guitarmaggedon with the likes of Scofield, Schnier, Clark, Lebowitz, Kimock, Roberts or any of the other uber talented axe slingers on the boat this year? Plus, maybe Sayers or Porter holding down the bass line?

I suppose if Josh Clark or Lebo get to host the jamroom one night, it will pretty much be that anyhow.

From Leahy's bio:
a frequent guest of such artists as Tea Leaf Green, Animal Liberation Orchestra, Samantha and The Ritual and has the honor of jamming with heavyweights such as Les Claypool, Eric McFadden, Skerik, Vince Herman, Merl Saunders and Mark Karan.

I think you're right Mango. TLG/ALO on the bill always means extra treats ! Leahy's usually in that entourage it seems

I'm really curious if Brokedown in Bakersfield is going to be added ? That's comprised of ALO’ s Dan Lebowitz (pedal steel), Scott Law (Telecaster guitar), Nicki Bluhm, Tim Bluhm of the Mother Hips (vocals, acoustic guitar), and the ALO rhythm section of Steve Adams (bass) and Dave Brogan (drums). They play old country syle pedal steel smokey honky tonk. They've been gigging for a year already.

Lebo really gets it done on the pedal steel for me.
