whoa whoa whoa whoa

I mean, I get he's not everyone's favorite, but the guys skills as a drummer are undeniable.

I was bummed we didn't get him. Would have loved to have met him or see him jam with someone cool. Pork Tornado does, indeed, suck. Electron was incredible but I reserve the right to be disappointed that he wasn't there.

Well, I certainly thank Fishman for being Good Jamily and keeping his highly-contagious virus off the boat. I've read about other passengers who were not so courteous (I've had a lot of reading time since I've been in bed sick since Friday night...as have 3 others from my crew). Since none of us boarded the boat with the flu, it was obviously a gift from a cruiser who decided that his or her good time took precedent over the health of others.

True statement.

Fishman plays in a headlining band.
Stanton plays the after party.

so that means Ringo Star best drummer of all time

i would also have to say, if you came on JC for one particular musician, you are missing out on what JC really is about

Exactly....

Fishman is a phenomenal drummer. Jumping up and down and beating the shit out of your kit does not equal talent.....

Sometimes its the breaks, fills that and subtle nuances that create a beautiful tapestry of sound upon which other musicians can create their art.

Totally agree with your second statement. A lot of the magic happens in the pauses and breaks, especially when you are talking about the drums or bass.

Your first statement it absurd. Stanton Moore not talented?? It almost has humorous ring to it when you say it out loud...

I didnt say any thing about Stanton not being talented. You must have read into my post. I think he is amazing !

Galactic put down two of the best sets on the boat. And the SM3 set was one of my favs.

I just think that non musicians eat up flashy antics and ego.

Any way I just wish that Johnny Fishman was on that boat, it would have been cool.

He is a better drummer/percussionist then people give him credit for.

Speaking of drummers... let's get Johnny Vidacovich! He plays like Animal and I love him. I think that jumping up and down on your kit and playing with a fire inside are HUGE parts of what makes up a great percussionist. I mean, it's a whole body instrument.

You guys can return to the Fishman debate now...
