Hey Cruisers,

Who would you like to see in an all-star jam on both I & II?

Maybe your jam will come true?

Let us know.

During the day, each band (or select band members) is teamed up with a lucky fan or two and they are pitted againt other bands in a all day pool side competition for the best band-fan team.

Egg toss, Greased Watermellon, walking a straight line - the event ideas are endless.

(ps - how much should we save up for the excursions to KeyWest and Bahamas?)

First of all, let me say HELL YES!!! I'll see you all in 2 short months.

Now, how about the Colonel meets the Colonel? ... (Hampton and Claypool)

Any other "officers" on JC2? Unfortunately the Commander of the Free Mexican Air force will be sailing on JC1.

Don't forget your suntan lotion!

To answer the question of how much money to bring, I would say at LEAST $250 and I am saying that ONLY if you don't really plan to gamble(unless you're a lucky bastard) and if you dont plan on shopping(unless its cheap bottles of liquor) Last time we went to Key West we made the mistake of bar hopping at all the fantastic bars on Duval St. We had a drink in each starting at one end of the street all the way back to the boat. Bad Idea!!We blew alot of money. Go to Hogs Breath Saloon and stay there if you dont go sightseeing. My advice, ask Santa for lotsa money...or Mastercard!

I gotta revise what I originally wrote in this thread. I just found out that Stanton Moore is coordinating the all-star jam? If that is true, good call. I really like the idea of having him think about it before the ship sets sail. Maybe Stanton will call some of the bands, plan some line-ups, plan some songs. I'm totally for improvising, just in a structure that makes sense and not a free-for-all with everyone on stage ('cept for maybe one jam)

Quote:
I would like to see some collaborations, rather than "ALL-star jams." Here's what I mean... A lot of all-star jams are just a cluster with so many people blowing. I would like to see some one-off bands formed, like.... drummer from one band, bass from another, guitar from another (probably works best to either pick among the funk-rock type bands, the trance-fusion types, or the folk-bluegrass-acoustic types, but crossovers are possible too).

Also looking forward to 'guest appearances' and hopefully crazy backwards unexpected stuff like Peter Rowan joining Disco Biscuits or Particle or Umphrey's for a trance-rock version of one on PR's bluegrass/folk/reggae songs. (You know you usually see a guest simply try to fit in on a song by the band he's joining. I'd like for the band to work up a cover of a song, and then play it with the original author.)

Hey, All-Star Jam, cool. Above ideas, even coola. Whatever you got, bring it on.[/b]

Hey getting Warren Haynes to come and play with Jerry Joseph would be sweet. Julie Mcoy I think that you could pull it off. The two of them have played a 'Climb to Safety' that has lifted me off the ground before .... maybe we can get the whole boat flying :D
