Hey Y'all!

Allow me to introduce myself.

I'm DJ Medi4 from Los Angeles, and I'ma playing on JC 1 & 2.

Although I don't take alot of "requests", I do play a real wide variety of musical styles - depending on the time of day and who I'm lookin' at.

You'll hear me play the following genres:

Reggae and dub (both old and new)
Hard Soul, Funky Jazz and Breaks
Hip Hop
Tribal House/Breakbeat/Psy Trance
Chill Out (sometimes pretty, sometimes trippy and druggy - think Sphongle - does anybody know about Shpongle?)
The Blues
"40 Years Worth of Rock"
and some sets that include all of the above and more (I call 'em "'Cid Sets" - use your imagination here...)

Whew.

What I'd like from youse is a string about favorite songs, trip-appropriate (literally) songs, and what you're into.

Would a sunrise chill-out set be nice for 'ya, or a hard rock set before Les Claypool turn you on? Should I be bringing disco records (don't be scared. just trust me)? Help me narrow it down, please...

I don't play alot of jammy stuff, although you will get the occasional Allmans, WSP or Dead tune here and there.

I'm lookin' forward to your suggestions...

and to getting out of LA for awhile.

Ready for rum and sunscreen (but not together),

I would love to hear some hip hop to round out the steady stream of sick bands that will be playing on the boat.

Here are some of my favorites....

Black Star/Mos Def
Organized Konfusion/Pharoah Monch
Outcast
The Roots
De La
Wu Tang/Method Man
Kool Keith
Siah & Yeshua
Company Flow

CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!

DJ Medi4,
Thanks for the intro. and for your questions. I've read some of the requests. They sound great, I've heard of some and not of others. I hope your going to find one of the most open musical crowds around. Be yourself and play what you feel. You are the artist, I trust you. As long as yur tunes lend themselves to some slendor and some rapture. Have fun see you soon :

Geez.

Thanks, you guys.

The Marley and Floyd will most most surely will be heard in several forms.

No Top 40 at all, btw. Maybe a Missy or Neptunes 'choon, but no Britney...

Bo, you helped put my mind at ease. Nice words.

Just know, ya'll, I'm busting my ass to get ready for this trip.

Peace, happiness and blessings to you all.

Happy Holidays.

Don't know if there'd be any application for some Zevon in all of that...it may or may not seem to fit but you DJs do some serious magic so I figured I'd put it out there.

Whatever you play will be perfect, tho. Can't wait to hear you.

I would highly recommend Reggae, Dub, Dancehall, ect. As a DJ you need to be appropriate for the surroundings, and if we're in the Carribbean......

Downtempo, like the aforementioned Mushroom Jazz would be great, since no one will be bringing that.

You can only bring so many records/cds, so I wouldn't wear yourself too thin with every genre under the sun. You don't want to get caught trying rediculous blends. Only Z-Trip is able to drop that shit!
