YAAAAAHOOOO!!! What a way to start 08, Jammin.

I like how they have done the tribute thing the last couple years with members of bands that are already on the boat (Beatles/Floyd/Dead). AND I like DSO, but wasn't it a Grateful Dead tribute on the boat last year? Don't people end up covering Dead tunes anyway? Isn't DSO like everywhere already? Try something different and if you are going to get a tribute band on there, have it be Phix since they are retiring this year, and who doesn't love Phish? Fish is on the boat, too - t'would be epic.

Not as much as you might think. Not really at all I'd say. Hearing GD on JamCruise has been, on the whole, a surprisingly VERY rare thing.



Uh, no. Especially not in the southeast. And that's not an argument against having them. By the same token you could say isn't Galactic like everywhere already? It doesn't really pertain imo.



Having DSO on board, definitely in the context of the past 5 cruises, is something different.



Sorry to hear they're retiring. But because they're retiring isn't really a great argument to get them on board either. I really dug them the one time I got to check them out. But dismissing for a moment the totally uncomparable musical stylings of the two bands, to my ear they just didn't bring their recreation to the same level that DSO attains. If we absolutely have to make the comparison (which I think is unfair to both bands), DSO is far more deserving imo.



Not me. They were my favorite band of all time, bar none. But there are surprisingly many who fit that description.... though it boggles my mind.



More gimmicky than "epic," but yeah, I'd definitely dig the novelty of it.

Looking back on this lineup and reflecting for a moment, it occurs to me that ONCE AGAIN JamCruise organizers have consistently listened to cruiser input on band selection.

How many times have we heard around here the names DSO and Warren Haynes for example? And bringing back JC's new favorite funkster, George Porter?!?

100% in support of gordon in general (my bet is a "sit in" with toubab crewe") and DSO playing the pool deck. something will be lost in the theatre.

I am so psyched to get on the boat in 6 months. Michael Franti, George Porter JR., Steve Kimock, Warren Haynes and 2,000 freaks on the open sea! My first Jamcruise after 5 years of being told by my familia Jacques and Steph that it is the best time a music junkie could ever imagine. I wish we were setting sail manana, but "all good things in all good time".

The only question is - are Jacques and Steph back on board? I hope so!
