Where is everyone staying on 1/3?? I know there are the jamcruise preferred hotels but I'd like to spend the day on the beach and both these places look pretty far away.

Can anyone reccomend a place on or walking distance to the beach thats not horribly expenive (under $200) that wont be an expensive cab ride away from the airport/cruise??

thank you.

Just FYI- The hotels we have listed on our site are only about a 5 min ride (max) from the beach. It's going to be pretty hard to find a cheap hotel room right on the beach for the 3rd, because it is the same night as the Orange Bowl (which is the Nat'l Championship this year). Let me know if I can help any more...

There is a cool place w/ a bar that opens early and closes late on a harbor called the Bahia Cabana. We have made our reservation for the third year running there. there is a seafood place along w/ the bar there. seems to be a pretty popular place; a little of a dive though.

i saw that hotel last year. we were staying in another dive place just across the street. it was fairly cheap but still a lot of money i thought (and only somewhat cheaper than the deals offered on this site, but they were gone by the time i booked).

a word of care: seems like almost EVERY hotel in the area has bahia in its name somewhere and somehow. and cabies don't have a clue how to tell them appart. know where you want to go beforehand. look it up yourself. i took a cab from the miami airport (so it's understandable he did not know), had him ask two other cabies and at two hotels, switched to another local cab, asked at another two hotesl and finally walked around for an hour before finding the place. and all of that after a good 12 hours of traveling and at about 3 in the morning my local time.

i second that, cost me about 100 bucks. but i had no choice, there are not a whole lof of flights to ft. l. from germany and i had to fly back the day we got into the harbor since work coudn't wait. same problem this year, so i guess i will have to take the same flights again :(

Check out the town of Hollywood, just south of Ft. Lauderdale. Many smaller hotels close to the beach, which has a huge broadwalk (that's what they call it) that runs along the beach. And about 10 minutes from Lauderdale airport.

I prefer to stay at the Best Western that is next door to the Culture Room, since it is so convenient for the pre and post shows. Its a very short walk from the Culture Room, a 2 min walk at most. Not the best hotel, but it does have a pool and tiki bar in the center, but what place doesn't down there. That's where my crew will be again this year.

That is not 100% correct more like 15 min ride to the beach. I would guess about a $12-$15 cab ride. very clost to the port and airport though just on the wrong side of it for easy beach access.

try flying to NYC, then hoping on jetblue (direct from jfk to fort lauderdale)

usually affordable as well

We are also staying at the Best Western, you can't beat the proximity to the culture room.
