I think it's a tricky thing because there is a Cloud 9 event already organized around UM and tDB.

But I do have a solution!

What JC should do next year for the 'special set' (i.e. Yacht Rock, Oh You Pretty Little Things, BDE, etc) is have Huey motherfucking Lewis get on the boat and do a raging set of his hits, and have his backing band be Umphrey's McGee instead of the News. Then the Huey songs will have that certain jam-esq quality that people crave, everyone will bliss out cause it's motherfucking Huey Lewis, and then UM is on the boat and we rock out.

i've been told that huey lewis's son is a HUGE umph fan and goes to alot of their shows.so this is not a stretch of imagination.

Huey Lewis would be hilarious!

I can go either way on the umph. If they don't really want to be there, leave them on land. I think bands should be cutting better deals to be on the ship, not asking for more money (I don't even know if this is the case, just saying...) There are plenty of musicians who would pay to be on the boat, and that's the attitude I want from my favorite musicians.

I have an old Stevie Wonder show on dvd from the early 70's and who is on bass? The one and only Ray Parker Jr. :lol:

definitely have my vote to include Umphreys back again for Jam Cruise 8. How about Dark Star Orchestra back again too? Be nice to have that Grateful Dead experience mixed back in with all the other jam and funk bands! :wink:

Wow Jim you remember me. Its rare as Im sure people cant even make out what im sayin when I say hello. I mean its jamcruise & I am wasted if Im not asleep.

Serk I agree the keller shows were great & 1 year maybe 2 or 3, keller was on with um. I skipped tea leaf green shows & p groove shows thats how good it can be :wink:
